Oxygen Gas Alarm | O₂ Alarm Detector

Fixed oxygen gas alarms can monitor oxygen concentration 24 hours a day. When the oxygen concentration is too low or too high, the oxygen concentration alarm can work with the exhaust system to ensure worker safety and production safety. Oxygen online monitoring alarms are often used in chemical, pharmaceutical, warehousing and laboratory places.

Oxygen is one of the main gases in the air. For human health and safety, an oxygen concentration between 19.5% and 23.5% Vol is considered normal. Below 19.5% Vol is considered hypoxic, which can lead to risks such as hypoxia and even suffocation. Above 23.5% Vol is considered hyperoxic, which can also endanger human health and life. Industrial oxygen monitors can monitor oxygen concentration in real time and issue visual and audible alarms to ensure safe production.

The fixed oxygen alarm consists of a host and (can be equipped with multiple) detectors. The host can be placed in the duty room or a place where personnel can easily find it. The oxygen detector is placed in the workshop or other places where the oxygen concentration is detected. When the concentration exceeds the high and low alarm values, the host and detector will simultaneously issue a dual sound and light alarm to alert the operating personnel.

Installation of an Oxygen Detection and Alarm System:
1. Oxygen Detector Installation Height and Alarm Levels:
The molecular weight of oxygen (O₂) in air is 32, while that of air is 29. O₂ is slightly heavier than air. When installed indoors, the oxygen monitoring alarm should be installed approximately 30 to 60 cm above the floor. When the upper limit of the oxygen content in the monitored environment reaches 23.5%Vol or the lower limit reaches 19.5%Vol (Note: The oxygen over- and under-alarm levels can be set to only level 1, with level 2 being the company’s own setting). The detector will issue an alarm signal, alerting personnel.
For production facilities, ensure that oxygen detectors are within 5 meters of indoor oxygen release points and within 10 meters of outdoor oxygen release points. For storage and transportation facilities, the effective protection radius of oxygen concentration detectors is 5 meters for closed or semi-open storage tanks, and 15 to 20 meters for open storage tanks.

CMC oxygen detector controller:

The oxygen controller should be installed in a frequently occupied area (such as a monitoring room or duty room). It should be wall-mounted, 160 cm from the ground, for easy access at all times. CMC’s toxic and combustible gas detector sensors utilize high-performance imported electrochemical sensors, offering high precision, accurate measurement, interference resistance, and stable performance. They also possess high sensitivity and a fast response time, enabling timely monitoring and issuing early warning signals to alert operators and prevent accidents.

Oxygen Monitoring Equipment Maintenance:
Under normal use, oxygen detectors have an effective service life of at least five years for infrared sensors, and two to three years for electrochemical and catalytic combustion sensors. Sensor sensitivity should be checked every six months during this useful life to ensure accurate and effective gas monitoring.

Oxygen monitor application scenarios:
Oxygen gas alarms are commonly used in high-risk environments such as chemical plants, smelting plants, power plants, sewage treatment plants, cold storage facilities, tunnels, and laboratories. These locations are prone to oxygen deficiency or enrichment, which can lead to suffocation, fire, or explosion. Installing an oxygen alarm can monitor the oxygen concentration in the air in real time, providing timely warnings to ensure personnel safety and equipment operation.
