Use of gas detector in tunnel

During tunnel construction, toxic and hazardous gases are extremely dangerous and can easily lead to serious safety accidents. Therefore, regulations require that industrial gas detection systems be used to monitor these gas concentrations and ensure proper ventilation. If gas concentrations exceed the specified limit, construction is prohibited.

Common flammable and toxic gases in tunnel construction:

1. There are many types of toxic and harmful gases in tunnels, the most common of which are methane (CH₄), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO₂), hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), ammonia (NH₃), nitrogen (N₂), and smaller amounts of heavy hydrocarbons and rare gas.
2. Among these, the main flammable gases are methane (also called gas) and some volatile organic compounds (VOCS). These organic gases are mostly flammable, but their toxicity is often enough to cause human poisoning even before their concentration reaches the lower explosive limit (LEL).
Therefore, when using industrial gas detectors to detect these gases, the toxicity should be tested first, followed by their explosiveness. For construction safety, gas detectors must be used to monitor the concentrations of these toxic gases to prevent explosions and ensure safe production.

Based on the actual situation of toxic gas in tunnels, methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) are primarily monitored. Harmful gases with lower concentrations and smaller amounts are monitored as auxiliary targets.
