Industrial gas concentration detectors installed in university laboratories

With increasing safety awareness, more and more university laboratories are choosing to install explosion-proof gas concentration detectors. When installing industrial gas detectors, the following precautions must be taken to ensure the proper installation and use of toxic and combustible gas alarms:

1. Gas detectors should be calibrated at least annually to ensure detection accuracy. Do not test the detector with pure gas or use a lighter to fumigate the detector to prevent premature failure due to excessive concentrations of combustible gas.
2. Toxic and combustible gas alarms can be installed in a variety of ways, including ceiling mounting, wall mounting, or pipe mounting. Ensure a secure and reliable installation, and consider ease of maintenance and calibration.
3. When installing a fixed gas concentration monitor, secure the sensor downward, tighten the nuts, close the detector cover, and tighten the screws to meet explosion-proof standards.
4. Gas alarms should be wired with the power off. Ensure the wiring is correct before reenergizing. The cover should be opened and the alarm should be debugged only after confirming there are no gas leaks on site. 5. Gas leak detectors should be installed within a 1-meter radius of valves, pipe connections, outlets, or areas prone to leakage, as close as possible without interfering with the operation of other equipment. High temperatures and high humidity should be avoided as much as possible, and the detector’s operating temperature and humidity ranges should be maintained. External influences such as splashing water, oil, and the possibility of mechanical damage should be avoided.
6. The specific gravity of the gas must be fully considered and the detector’s height determined accordingly. The closer the installation location to the leak source, the better, to facilitate timely alarms.
7. The detection range of each detector in open areas is 60 square meters, that of each detector in enclosed areas is 30 square meters, and that of each monitor in outdoor areas is 100 square meters. Factors such as gas diffusion, wind direction, temperature, humidity, and area enclosure should also be considered. Dustproof, waterproof, and high-temperature protection should also be considered during installation.

Toxic and combustible gas detectors are not only used in university laboratories, but are also widely used in chemical plants, oil and gas facilities, pharmaceutical plants, sewage treatment plants, boiler rooms, underground parking lots, and mines. They are used to monitor toxic or flammable gas leaks in real time to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
